Healthcare Enrollment Application

Summary

The goal of this project was to create an application that makes it easy for registered users to securely and electronically submit and manage their healthcare enrollment information. As the project developed, I helped shape the product to better meet the needs of users and align business goals. This meant creating a fresh user interface and design system, along with developing new features.

Discovery

Over several months, I led a series of workshops, user interviews and design spikes to produce a fresh new take on the application that made it more appropriate for current teams.

The outcome of my preliminary workshops and research, and the defining hypothesis of the re-design was my team suggesting product enhancements. This list included features that the users found helpful had but our client was missing. This was validated using extensive user testing and data analysis, both during design and with the subsequent staged release.

Journey Mapping

I created user flows for each task. This helped ensure that each flow was prioritized and obstacle-free. I made sure to include multiple access points, a clear start and finish and illustrated steps in sequential order.

If you’ve used government applications before, you’ll know that they are often outdated, making it difficult for users to find information or complete tasks. I used the information gathered during discovery sessions to show where we could improve efficiency and user experience.

The result was a design reflective of audiences’ needs with data-driven analysis influencing management and development decisions.
